Using a Garage Door controller as a Driveway Gate controller

The installation of the eKyro smart garage door controller to be used as a driveway gate controller is an exciting process that can be easily done with the help of a mobile device. Once properly set up, this device can be used to provide more secure and convenient access to a home.

The first step for installation is to download the eKyro app onto the user’s phone and follow the step-by-step instructions for installation. Before installation, the user will need to have a good understanding of the type of door or gate that they are using, as well as the appropriate measurements for installation of the controller. Moving onto the actual installation process, the user will start by mounting the base of the controller using the provided screws. Here, ensuring the mounting area is flat and level is essential for the proper functioning of the controller. After this is complete, the user will need to connect the wires from the gate or door to the device.

Depending on if the user has an RF enabled device, they can next test the compatibility of the device to the eKyro app. By inputting the appropriate code, the app and device should successfully connect with each other, allowing the user to test if the structure they’re mounting the controller to is working properly. If the garage door or gate is operational, the user can move onto the next step which is connecting the device with an internet connection. This can be done through either Wi-Fi or cellular connection, both offering reliable access to the device state.

The final step of the installation process of the eKyro smart garage door controller is to personalize the settings by using the app’s user interface. Here, the user can edit settings for the device such as pin creation, access control, and opening and closing timers. Additionally, users can also enable notifications to their phone whenever the device is opened or closed.

I had to modify the cabling to my gate to make this setup work. I paralleled the garage door relay with my remote open/close button I have in the house. I also added additional wiring for a closed sensor contact at the gate to verify if the gate opened or closed, additionally because the gate moves in the wind the sensor would move into the open and closed fairly often. To overcome this I changed the setting in my app. I turned notifications in the App for open and closed off and turned on notifications if the gate was open for more than 10 minutes. I have also have a camera viewing the gate accessible on phone. The combination of remote cameras and control I can verify propane or package delivery and let people into the property.

Overall, installing the eKyro smart garage door controller modified to be a driveway gate controller can be a straightforward process with the help of a mobile device and adequate understanding of the door or gate in use. By following the step-by-step instructions mentioned, the user will have a secure and fully functional device that can be operated by simply using the eKyro app.
