A Little Bit of Sun

Solar Generation Is a BIG deal for any homeowner. Halving, or completely eliminating a monthly utility bill. Going from consuming to creating electricity on your property. Another path to self sustenance and living a regenerative life. I put solar panels on my detached garage, filling up the roof in the process. I put up a 8kw On-Grid system which would allow me to produce power and consume what I use. Any excess would go back onto the Grid. On the other hand the system is small for my personal use so if I needed more energy I could take it off the grid.

I Installed a Growatt Inverter. The Utility also had me install an accessible outside disconnect to turn the solar panels off incase of emergency. Getting the solar panels installed on the grid was easy as all I had to due was submit an electrical diagram of how the solar panels were wired to the Utility, Pay a $300 fee for a net metering can, and have an Inspection.

Over all I paid almost $8000 for all the equipment, panels, inverter, wiring and devices. The solar panels save me more than $150 a month in utility bill. by the 4th Year of being on my roof the panels will have paid for themselves.

I Mounted and wired the solar panels, inverter, and disconnect, with some help from my sons. I had a quote for installation at $26,000. I passed on that and purchased the panels from www.signaturesolar.com.
